late 19th century, in the manner of Holland & Sons, the inset green leather top above three secret frieze drawers with applied classical gilt bronze plaques on octagonal tapering supports,

Purported to be the Earl of Sefton's desk. Complete with original Christie's catalogue, receipt and a print of the Earl of Sefton.

Provenance: Bought from Christie's Croxteth Hall House Sale, 1973 where it was catalogued as attributed to Holland & Sons.
The writing table is based on an earlier example by Jean-Henri Riesener and made for Queen Marie-Antoinette's Queens House at Versailles.
